"We did a pilot program in 8 of our restaurants for almost a year. Our managers liked the program for various reasons. It saves them time and filters out applicants we don't want in our restaurants. However, there were a couple of things that were happening that the managers wanted to see changed. One was that applicants would be called in for an interview and they did not select a position they were applying for and those that did select a position, we didn't know what experience they had. Our managers would get frustrated because they wanted each applicant to select a job code and then tell us how much (if any) experience they had at the position they were applying for. The second change the managers wanted was to let every applicant take the entire interview no matter how they responded. Leave the criteria on the report but let the managers see how every applicant answers every question".
"In 3 of our restaurants, managers were hiring applicants that met and did not meet the criteria (if they liked them or they desperately needed help). We allowed them to do this so we could see what difference TeleScreen might make. In those 3 restaurants, all of the applicants that were hired that did not meet the criteria are no longer with our company. However, those applicants that were hired that met the criteria, 9 out of 10 are still there. We have better quality employees because we are making better hiring decisions".
"TeleScreen worked so well we now have our own system. The changes were made that our managers wanted (I think they are now available to all franchisees). We had the system customized for both our Denny's and Bennigan's restaurants. When an applicant takes an interview for RREMC they can not continue the interview without selecting a job code, entering their experience, if any and providing a contact number. This helps our managers a lot when the applicant comes in for an interview. Also, every applicant is allowed to complete the entire interview in all 30 of our restaurants. This way we don't have to worry about disconnects because of a wrong key pressed, etc".
